Dr. Lenski is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Hannah Professor of Microbial Ecology at Michigan State University.  He is interested in evolutionary dynamics and studies the experimental evolution of bacteria in the lab.  Dr. Lenski's work combines microbiology and molecular techniques with ecological and evolutionary thinking, and he is widely recognized as a leader in both of these areas.  His research is described in more detail at his lab's website:
