History (and Future) of K-Treks

K Treks founder and studentsIn 2014, Brad O’Neill '93 created and funded K to the Bay, the first K-Trek, in which four students traveled to San Francisco with business professor Amy MacMillan to learn about careers in entrepreneurship and high tech by meeting with his colleagues in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the fall of 2015, as the second K to the Bay was launched with four more students, another donor stepped forward and offered to fund a K-Trek to New York in March of 2016. For K to the Big Apple, seven students traveled to New York to explore careers in finance, business and economics by meeting with alumni working in those industries across the city. In the 2016-2017 academic year, a third K-Trek will be piloted alongside K to the Bay and K to the Big Apple. K to the Windy City will take a group of students to Chicago to learn about and explore careers in law, social justice and nonprofit administration.

As additional donations are confirmed, K-Treks may be added to explore other industries and geographies. Locations in consideration for future K Treks include Detroit and Washington, DC among others.
