Reason CMS Blogs/Publications

A Blog in Reason (also known as a Publication) is a good way to deliver regularly-updated information to your website visitors. See an example of a blog page.

There are three steps to create a new Blog/Publication in Reason:

  1. Create a Blog/Publication Item
  2. Add the Blog/Publication to a Page
  3. Post to Your Blog/Publication

Create a Blog/Publication Item

*Note: When you create a Blog/Publication item, you are building a container to hold your posts; you must associate the Blog/Publication with a page to make it available on your website.

  1. Click Blogs / Publications in the blue Site Administration screen under the content options:

  2. Click Add Blog / Publication, which will take you to the "Adding Blog/Publication" screen:

  3. Fill in the Blog/Publication Settings and Entry Fields.
  4. Click Save and Continue Editing to submit your changes.
  5. On the yellow menu, click Who is allowed to post?:
    BlogEdit_WhoCanPost
  6. Select the group you wish to have access creating blog posts. If you don't see an appropriate group, create one.
  7. On the yellow menu, click Who can comment?
  8. Select the group you wish to have access commenting on your blog posts. If you don't see an appropriate group, create one or borrow one from Information Services.
  9. Click Finish to submit your changes and return to the blue menu.

Once you have created your blog/publication, be sure to associate it with a web page.

Add the Blog/Publication to a Page

You can add a blog to a page by associating the blog with that page and then changing the page type to "BLOG/PUBLICATION." 

  1. Edit the page (in Reason Admin, not inline) that you wish to add the blog to, or create a new one if you don't have a page for the blog already.
  2. In the Page Editing screen, select  "BLOG/PUBLICATION" from the "Type of Page" field:

  3. Click Save and Continue to submit your changes so far.
  4. In the left Yellow Menu, click BLOG (for blog page) to access your existing blog/publication items:

  5. Click Select next to the blog/publication item that you wish to associate with your page:
    Select Blog
  6. Click Finish on the yellow menu to submit your changes and create your blog/publication page.

Once you have created your blog and associated it with a web page, you may post to your blog/publication.
