Image Settings & Entry Fields

Below you'll find descriptions of:

Image Upload/Edit Fields

*Denotes required field.

Used to identify the image within the Reason Admin (internal use only). This name will not be displayed anywhere on your website.

Allows you to select the file you wish to upload with the Choose a file button:

If you have already uploaded and image and wish to switch it out, the button will say Choose a new file.

 *Short Caption
Fulfills a variety of roles, including the "Alternate Text" function for accessibility purposes.

The short caption appears when a thumbnail is used. It also appears under full-sized images if there is no long caption.

Long Caption
Appears under the full-size version of an image; shows in photo galleries.

Name of the photographer if one exists. This field will show in special image types like photo galleries.

Short descriptor words that are used in both Reason search and other web searches.

Allows you to choose whether others can borrow this image on their Reason websites. Set to "Private" to not allow borrowing, set to "Shared" to permit borrowing.

Image Insert Settings

When you insert an image on a screen, you get the Image Selection Window as below:

Insert: existing image

Provides access to all the images in your image database. You may:

  • Insert an image by selecting it with your mouse and clicking OK.
  • Navigate through your image database with the <<Prev and Next>> buttons.
  • Search your images based on image title.

Insert: image at web address

Not recommended for general use. When possible, upload an image to your image database instead, or borrow an image from a Reason website. Type or paste the complete URL of the image next to where it says "Location:"

  • Thumbnails - A version of the image where the longest side has a maximum dimension of 125 pixels (as in the example thumb below).

  • Full - The full size version of the image, typically no wider than 500 pixels.


  • None - The image will be displayed without text wrapping.
  • Left - The image will be aligned on the left side of the page and the text that follows the image will automatically wrap around the right side (if space is available).
  • Right - The image will be aligned on the right side of the page and the text that follows the image will automatically wrap around the left side (if space is available).
