Minor Requirements
The Department of Economics and Business offers three distinct minors: Business, Economics, and International Economics & Business. The minors program in the Department of Economics and Business is designed to benefit students who are aspiring to a career or graduate study closely affiliated with business, public policy, or international commerce. Each minor is intended to complement the academic preparation and career goals of a specific group of students. For example, a political science major who intends to pursue a career in law or local community development would benefit from the Minor in Economics with coursework focusing on public policy issues. On the other hand, the Minor in International Commerce would complement a major in International Area Studies (IAS) and Foreign Languages.
The Minor in Business would meet the needs of several diverse groups of students. For example, this minor program would be helpful to students who are either planning to start their own businesses or work in management for private or public companies. In addition, a minor in business would greatly facilitate the career objectives of students who desire to work for manufacturing or financial enterprises. It is also possible for a minor in business to adequately prepare a student to assume a managerial position in a not-for-profit organization, such as an art gallery or a philanthropic organization.
