Continuing Student Information
**IRS Data Retrieval Tool Temporarily Down**
The IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) typically allows students and parents to conveniently transfer tax information directly to the FAFSA. This service has recently been suspended and will remain unavailable for an unspecified amount of time over concerns of identity theft. The IRS and the Department of Education are working to resolve the issue.
The FAFSA is still available. Until the DRT is back online, students and parents will be required to manually input tax data. Tax return transcripts can be ordered online by visiting the IRS website (www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript). The Office of Financial Aid will provide updates as we receive new information. Feel free to contact us with questions.
Changes to FAFSA
New for 2017-2018 - The FAFSA will be available beginning October 1, 2016. You will also be using 2015 tax data instead of having to estimate your 2016 tax data. For answers to frequently asked questions about these changes, please read this article.
File by March 1
Reminder - you will still need to file your FAFSA by March 1 if you are a Michigan Resident and for full consideration of all aid programs!
