The staff of Facilities Management replaced 300 light fixtures in the Dow Science Center as part of a commitment to climate neutrality. Energy efficient models replaced the former lig
hts, a project that will yield a projected $6,000-$8,000 a year in energy savings.
Director of Facilities Management Paul Manstrom said, "This was done with money that will continue to be used as seed money for climate commitment progress."
Earlier in the summer, the Markin Racquet Center transitioned to energy efficient lighting systems.
"We're trying to whittle away at our climate emissions," said Manstrom.
Other retrofitting projects are under discussion, including the installation of low-flow toilet models in residence halls and waterless urinals.
