Media Services
Media Questions?
The highest priority of Media Services is to provide the resources and support necessary to meet the instructional technology needs of our faculty and students. If ever you have questions about media capabilities on campus, or where media can be accessed here, please feel free to consult with Media Services. You may reach us by phone at campus extension 7138, send us an email at kmedia@kzoo.edu, stop by in person to speak with someone at the the Media Desk (We are located on the first floor of the Upjohn Library Commons, to the left of the grand staircase), or you may also peruse the Classroom Technology - Facilities webpage.
Media Support
Whenever any member of the Kalamazoo College Community chooses to project a PowerPoint, or any other computer presentation; show a video from YouTube; play a DVD; amplify the voice of a speaker; etc. Please contact us!
Media Services will deliver, set up, and serve as operators of equipment if needed. For regular class sessions, send your request to kmedia@kzoo.edu, ideally with 24 hour notice. It’s never too soon to let us know your media plans or video screening schedule, but please, if possible, make the requests at least 24 hours in advance and give us as much information as possible about your class, meeting, and/or event so that we can make certain to provide the correct media set-up for you. Please note: requests sent to kmedia@kzoo.edu or phoned in at campus extension 7138 come directly to Media Services and are received M-F from 8a-5p. Requests made after 5p via email or voice mail are still valid but will only be received the following morning at 8am. You may make requests after 5p, but please be aware that you may not receive the confirmation of your request prior to an 8:30am set-up time. if you would like to confirm an early media set-up, you may call the Media Desk after 8am to confirm your request. However...
When making media requests for evening and weekend classes, meeting, and/or events, Media Services requires that all media requests which begin or end after 5 PM on weekdays must be submitted before noon of that day. And all media requests for events occurring Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday must be submitted by noon on Friday.
Students!
Do not assume that your instructor has already made arrangements to have the media equipment available to you for a class presentation; if you need to have Media Services support for a presentation or project, please let us know! You may make your request by phone to the campus extension 7138, or you can stop by the media desk in person. However, an email request is the most secure way to make certain your media requests are set-up accurately. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Borrow Portable Equipment
Portable Equipment must be checked out from the Media Desk. Terms of loan may vary depending on the availability or popularity of an item. Large portable equipment, such as a Portable Pa System, for use after Media Services business hours must be picked up before 4:00 pm the day of use and is due back to Media Services before noon the next business day. For weekend use, equipment should be picked up before 4:00 pm on Friday and returned Monday before noon. Borrowers are responsible for all equipment checked out in their name.
