ResNet (Residence hall access)
ResNet is the residential computer network service provided to students living at Kalamazoo College. ResNet lets you connect your computer directly to Kalamazoo College's high-speed Ethernet network via a connection located in each room. With ResNet, students can access library resources, e-mail, other computers on the network and the Internet.
Every student computer on the network must register with ResNet at the beginning of each academic year, and upon returning from study abroad. Computers that are not registered by the second week of October will have their network access disabled until they complete the registration. Registering your computer associates you with your computer. This allows Information Services to quickly and accurately pinpoint computers on campus that may be compromised or infected with a virus. The ResNet registration system does not change any settings on your computer or install software.
Participation on Kalamazoo College's network requires adherence to the General Computing and Network Use Policy. Violations may result in disconnection from ResNet, or in extreme circumstances, prosecution by the law.
See the Residential Computer Consultant (RCC) in your residence hall if you have any problems connecting your computer to the network. RCCs can help you connect your computer to the network, and help you with computer virus protection and removal. At the RCCs' discretion, they can also assist with hardware and software problems not related to connecting your computer to the network.
