Bike HUB (Helping Understand Bikes)

Save a Hornet, Ride a Bike.

HUB is an organization dedicated to the mission of providing Kalamazoo College students and faculty with an environmentally safe, fossil fuel free, alternative mode of transportation.

We at the bike co-op believe in the three C’s:  A Conscious Campus Community.  Consciousness refers to the environmental and health benefits brought about by this mode of locomotion. We strive to make this campus environmentally and health conscious through exposure to bicycles. Community growth is advanced through a common enjoyment as well as a common need, cost effective transportation. We provide accessibility to our campus, as well as the off campus community with which we are a part. We hope to have an integrating effect upon the city and campus community.

We offer free bike rental ranging from leisure and hybrid bikes to mountain and racing bikes (currently 15 rentable bicycles).  We are also available for repair help or resources if you are interested in repairing your own bike.

Each of our donated bikes has been re-furbished to provide an optimal riding experience without sacrificing style.  The green and yellow bicycles, alternately named for tractors and mythological figures, can be rented for FREE. Bike mechanics can show you how to fix your own bike.

There are some wonderful riding trails in Kalamazoo including the Kal-Haven Trail and the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail (KRVT). Click here to learn more about the Kal-Haven trail and here for the KRVT.
