With/Out - ¿Borders?

The ACSJL bi-annual convening event is With/Out - ¿Borders? In 2014 and 2016, With/Out - ¿Borders? featured a conference format that welcomed activists, artists, and progressive scholars to image a just future. With/Out - ¿Borders? continues to convene activists from across the globe in the fall of even years, now with varying structures and themes that speak to the salient issues of the day.

For the gathering from October 8-15, 2018, the theme will be Towards a FutureLand.  We have invited activists from across the globe who approach movement work understanding:

1) land as essential to Indigenous sovereignty movements

2) land as contested through the forced dislocation of people within and outside the US

3) land as strength and nurturance

With this theme, the ACSJL contends that intimate convening based on global struggles for land allows us to deeply examine the commodities and consumption of space as well as the reach and watch of colonial and corporate power. Activists involved in these struggles tend to be committed to work for the long haul with low profiles. With a deep commitment to capacity-building, the ACSJL will deploy resources to invigorate and raise the profile of the campaigns nationally and globally.

The list of organizations attending the convening in October 2018 are as follows.

This is a map of the participants and organizations.

Participants will spend the majority of the time with one another exchanging ideas and solidifying relationships. The public is welcome to attend the following events:

Wednesday, October 10, 6-8pm: Opening Ceremony in Dalton Theater, followed by a reception in the lobby

Thursday, October 11, 8:30-10am: Community Breakfast at ACSJL
