Service-Learning

Farms to K is supported in a variety of ways by Kalamazoo College's Student Commission (link:  reason.kzoo.edu/stucomm) and the Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Center for Civic Engagement (link:  reason.kzoo.edu/servicelearning), which support the organization to carry out a large variety of projects.  The projects are both educational for the campus and engage with the greater Kalamazoo community by highlighting the intersections between food security, fair wages and good jobs, environmental stewardship, economic development, and health, and by working with schools, community gardens, advocacy groups and many others.  Farms to K is led by a student Civic Engagement Scholar (https://reason.kzoo.edu/servicelearning/ces/), which is a paid position funded by the Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Center for Civic Engagement, thanks to a gift from Larry Bell, K'81.
