Hey KOCers!!

-First off, we'll have two meetings next week – one on Tuesday, 4/7/09 at 4:30  and one on Friday (April 10th) at 4:30 both in Hicks 110.

 - Our website is up and has the minutes from our meetings as well as trips being planned

 - We talked a lot about funding, pursuing a budget, etc.  There's an info session on Thursday 4/2/09 at 9pm which will go over the process of running a Student Organization, and there was one on Sunday.  Possibility of reviving the already-existing club instead of starting a new one?

-In order to get $$, we want consistent, reliable interest in order to get funding from either school or independent organizations.

-Gift fund-apply if we're planning more expensive trip that calls for specific expenses - itemized budget.  This might be a perfect thing to help the memorial weekend trip to sleeping bear dunes.  It could help subsidize the trip as well buy us some tents to make it happen.

-TRIPS-

-April 10-12 - North Country Trail

-9 mile trail, about an hour away. Schoolhouse for shelter if weather is bad.

-Planners for this trip: Pat Gailey, Douglas Colton, Gigi Leet, and Tor Berg- figure out capacity limit, make flyers hopefully by Friday, for sure by Monday. Send out email of things you plan/talk about in your meeting

-Memorial Day Weekend - Sleeping Bear Dunes

-$25 per site, 20 people per site, $10 per vehicle.  We can possibly also visit Manitou Island.

-Planners: Xavier Soto, Pat Gailey, Brittany, and Doug Colton.

-Other Trips:

-Bike Trip to South Haven - overnight?

We'd have to worry about getting bikes back possibly, vans, food, gear, etc.

6th week weekend (9th and 10th)

Wilderness Philosophy house sponsored?

Possibility to offering three options.  Bike there and back (spend the night).  Drive there and bike back.  Also could bike there and drive back.

-PJ Hoffmaster State Park- dunes trip

-Muskegon- dunes trip

-General:

-Arb trip this Friday 4/3 at 4:30  meet in Red Square.  Offered through wilderness and spirituality

-Saturday, may 16th - Chapel is organizing a canoe trip down the Kalamazoo River

-Doug Colton brought some information about how we can be recognized as a club (we'd need an organization leader and a finance officer, plus other general information), talk more about that next meeting.  Think about positions and whether or not we should electing people at Tuesday’s meeting.

-IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN HELPING PLAN A TRIP, PLEASE CONTACT THE ABOVE NAMES AND SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO.  WANT TO CREATE YOUR OWN TRIP? COME TO OUR MEETINGS AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Sorry if these minutes are a little choppy/incomplete.  Let me know if I missed anything big!

Peace,

Emily
